Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
The question is always about just how good are the best youngsters. Coventry, Johnson and Powell get mentioned a lot but I and most others don't watch regularly. Is the reason they are doing so well this season the fact they dropped a division or is there not much difference? Is it because last season there was so much chopping and changing game by game.

Coventry, Powell are they quick and strong or like many we have... technically sound but one paced and a bit lightweight. What we are missing in the first team is intensity, pace, strength and stamina. Looking at the last 8 games , they could well do a job or would they get on and be anonymous like Cullen was in the few starts and games he has? I suppose one point of view is that you never know until you try them?

Chris Houghton LOVES playing youngsters.

:-)

BRING IT ON.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
There’s not point ranting about the lack of youngsters coming through.

Completely correct that our kids could play with way more heart and passion than half the dross.

But the old fraud ain’t playing them. End of story.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
I will throw another name into the mix.
Bernardo Rossa, he has been playing Right Back in the last few games. Even when Johnson came back against Villa under 23s Johnson played on the left side thats how much confidence they have for this youngster.
He is Brazilian started as a Midfielder but since he has been repositioned he has been a revelation , he has the skills, he is fast ,reads the game well,,great attacking instincts defends really well, bulked out and grown in height going to be a great prospect.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Tomorrow our U21's take on Brighton.
A tough fixture but for them a must win, mainly to see if they have progressed this year. Unbeaten in the league and very impressive too. But in the cup's they have suffered 3 defeats, inlarge due to being without several of their best players away on International duty especially in the Leasing Cup.
Pellegrini has to be at this game,he knows his 1st team squad and now needs to properlylook at them.
Martin has to play to and Reid too. For both of them I expect them to play against Chelsea. Reid should be ready by now. Johnson should be on the bench too against Chelsea,a far better alternative to Zab or any other defender.
I love to see Pellegrini be bold and put 3 or 4 of the team on the bench on Saturday.Holland should start,Coventry on the bench with Powell too. That along with Martin and Reid.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Agree Davey

Look at Chelsea and what theyve done with their youth. Should be the blueprint for teams to follow.

Coventry looks like he deserves a chance but is stalling over a new contract so not sure if thats affecting his game time.

My main beef about Pellegrini not using the U23's is when we have players out injured he'll play players out of position rather than promote as he is loathed to risk the younger players.
Some minutes here and there is useful for their learning process.
If I was one of the U23's I'll be chomping at the bit to get some action,it's how players emerge. I thought Allardyce was loathed to use them apart from en masse in a no shape side.
Coventry should be able to step up as he's played numerous times for the Irish U21's.. Maybe having him in front of Rice could help our ageing midfield and it's lack of pace.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Another reason to get rid of Pellers

Im amazed how Holland isnt making prem squads, just what more has he got to do for the U23's and how many more weeks has Anderson got to be anonymous against shit RB's for him to get a look in?

Id rather Powell or Coventry than Sanchez on the bench sat. We had 3 defensive players on the bench at home to Newcastle. Utterly baffling

Sven Roeder 8:56 Mon Nov 4
Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Sanchez was on the bench
He is a waste of a spot as obviously Pellegrini never starts him even when Rice was ill and shouldn’t have played at Everton.
Wilshere of course is injured.
He and Sanchez need to be released in January and two footballers signed that can play in central midfield.

Westley has gone.. Halajko is doing a great job thus far.
Don't agree about Carr and Co.
Carr needed retiring..
Westley was not the answer.. but this Martin/Harajko set up is looking progressive

Sanchez shouldn't be on the bench.. Powell or Holland ahead of that waster.

They will come through. Pellegrini did well with the youngsters last year. Bit slow this year, agreed, but I would not right it off.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Have said many times that bradys appointment of westley and the removal of hampson tindall and carr ruined our youth set up.rice was signed under jimmy tindall and not a player has come through from westley and co.to think of the players hampson and tindall found and carr coached compared to what has been produced since .we need young blood but its not at the club IMO.

This poster explained the U23 position.

Seems Scully has emerged on the scene as a striker also.

Anyone see Powell or Coventry as CMs sooner rather than later??

Re: Under 23's
In response to the under23's relegation last year the were many mitigating circumstances. To list just some Trott in goal ,not inspiring those in front of him,Oxford centre back just was not at the races on the floor or in the air,the 2 left backs not Johnson again woeful,a midfield which lacked a skill player,Diaganna,Cullen,Sameulson,Powel and one or two others out on loan,an uninspiring coach with very little tactical nous,Silva who started like a train then got injured,Holland and Kemp coming back from previous season long term injuries.
An introduction of a lot of very young players that were a little lightweight and in general the team lacked height.
This season a totally different package, there is not a lot of difference in Div1 and Div2 .

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
There are some proper fucking idiots on this site. We all know Vexed is an absolute fucking car crash of a human being, but some of you should really think a bit more.

No one is saying play the youth team. No one.

What some are saying, those that actually go to watch West Ham, is we are lacking something in our team. That thing is PACE with intent going forward. We are absolutely bereft of it, it's so glaringly obvious to anyone with a set of eyes and we need an injection in our team. Badly.

We have a player who has been consistently brilliant at U23 level, who is rapid, and is hardly a kid for fuck sake seeing as he is 21 years old.

Is he the answer? Fuck knows. I tell you who isn't the answer at the minute, Felipe Anderson. We've just returned 1 point from 3 home games against Palace, Sheffield Utd & Newcastle, and looked as bad as anyone can remember in living memory. I'm glad some of you are happy to stick with those so badly underperforming, and do not want to 'throw in' a 21 year old, but some of us think why the fuck not, given we are currently the shittest team in the league.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
How the fuck has a staunch Pellegrini advocate managed to turn this around ?
Brexit man, you’re wasted on here!
I’m really not as sad as many others to spend any time digging through old shit ( I’m sure there’s a search short cut but not for me) but carry on like that idiot Russ and deny it ever happened. I’m sure it’ll make you feel better!
One last question? Are you for or against the old bluffer, it’s hard to keep up?

Takashi Miike 9:39 Sun Nov 3
Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
yes, go digging for something that was never posted, you'll be looking forever. i take the same line with every manager under these cunts, it's irrelevant who is in charge but the short of braincell cunts, like you, fail to grasp that

rochesterjohn 9:16 Sun Nov 3
Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
You really want me to go digging TM?
Ffs, you’re full of shit just hold your hands up admit RJ is the man and we can forget about this embarrassing saga in your WHO history.
All hail RJ!!!

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
you should do yourself a favour and stop bullshitting. me not wanting a manager sacked doesn't translate to 'the best manager we've had'. we haven't had a great manager since lyall, but unlike you I realise that we can't change the manager every five minutes, and especially under these current owners who can't even invest the squad correctly
